== Biography ==
Coy was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, November 27, 1955.
At 21 years old, Coy got a job at Capitol Records in Detroit, and he says "I was living the life of sex, drugs, and rock n roll, literally...". Years later, Coy began to abuse drugs and alcohol, and after multiple traffic tickets, some of which include driving under the influence, he lost his driver's license.〔 Soon after, at 24 years old, a band manager reported that Coy offered drugs to a band member.〔 With his music industry career ruined he moved to Las Vegas and got a job in property management,〔〔 but his talent in entertainment lead to him becoming an entertainment director of a casino in Las Vegas. When he began working at the casino it had an "Urban Cowboy" theme, but the owner decided he wanted to have an "All-Girl Revue" which Coy says "Is another way of saying I ran a strip club."〔〔 Up until 1984 he continue to live his life of sex and drugs, but then on the day after Christmas his life changed. Bob's brother, Jim, who had recently married and "got" religion, gave him a place to stay after he came to Jim's house from a party at the casino filled with alcohol and cocaine. Jim let Bob stay in his living room and he gave him a pillow, blanket, and a bible, Bob threw the bible back at Jim and said "Jim will you shut up with your Jesus stuff.". So with the bible still on the floor, Jim and his wife, Theresa, went to bed, but Bob says he couldn't sleep because the bible was "calling out to him". Bob picked that bible up opened it to the Gospel of John and began reading, and he says that when he got to 3:16 he began to weep uncontrollably. Jim and his wife came from around the corner and Jim said to Bob "God just woke me up and told me I'm supposed to pray for you." After that day at his brother's home he says he hasn't been the same since.〔〔
In the following days Coy quit his job at the casino and began to serve as an associate pastor at Calvary Chapel Las Vegas.〔〔 In 1985, Coy and his wife, Diane, moved to South Florida and began Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale.〔〔 He has become well known for his unique style of teaching and preaching through the Bible.
